Past news, I know, but we still have to rep’ the amazing music our local Russian DJs bring to Minneapolis.  DJs Ian Russ, Alik (YouTube, LastFM), and Tranceaddict brought an amazing and unique fest of music for one night at Envy Nightclub at their annual Euro Holiday Party last Friday.  The scene these guys bring is so unique it even attracted local Dmitry Chaplin, finalist from ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, into attending the event. The night started out with some of the best new, melodic, techy trance and ended with a blast from the past of classic melodic hard trance and eurodance straight from the other side of the pond. Look forward to more events from these guys to come!

In preparation for tonight’s radio show (9-11pm cst), I’ll have the privilege of sharing with you a peek into some of my favorite Hardstyle tunes of late.  I must say my fav Hardstyle group is Headhunterz (Twitter) straight out of the Netherlands.  WARNING: for those not familiar with hardstyle, it’s a fast, hardhitting EDM genre, delivering 140-160 bpm (possible to dance to?  ans: YES)

Made up of the talents of Willem Rebergen and Bobby van Putten. Headhunterz got their start after playing at Defqon 1 (a Q-dance event) where The Prophet recognized their talent and got them plugged with the Scantraxx label.  They now have their own sublabel Scantraxx Reloaded and have been delivering severe destro throughout Q-dance events where Hardstyle is rep’ed and respected.

If only the U.S. had a similar appreciation for the Hardstyle…  I must say after seeing this video one of the things I have added to my list of things to do before I die is to attend at least 3 Q-dance events.

This song is says it perfect why most just don’t get it.  I’ll be busy raving my face off while you may contemplate the power of the chune :D

“It’s not love for music, it’s a passion, and it goes beyond liking, and beyond a hobby, it’s about a way of living. Music is essential for my life.” Armin van Buuren (voted #1 DJ in the world in 2009 and 2008).

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” Aldous Huxley (not by any means a DJ… but the quote is cool).
